Iraqi Justice Ministry reaffirms commitment to protecting Christian property
BAGHDAD — The Iraqi Ministry of Justice has reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the property and real estate rights of the Christian community, according to a statement from Justice Minister Khalid Shawani.
During a meeting with Patriarch of the Ancient Church of the East Mar Gewargis III Younan, Minister Shawani highlighted the Ministry’s proactive measures to ensure the protection of Christian property.
“The Ministry of Justice has implemented all necessary measures to safeguard private property by forming specialized committees and providing facilities to streamline real estate transactions, particularly for Christians residing outside Iraq,” Shawani stated. He emphasized that the Ministry has issued clear instructions aimed at protecting the real estate rights of Christians as part of broader efforts to preserve their property and enhance their legal guarantees.
Patriarch Mar Georges III Younan expressed gratitude to the Minister, praising the Ministry’s initiatives to provide essential support and facilitate property transactions for the Christian community.
