SDF dismisses speculation of US withdrawal amid continued military reinforcements
NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — Amid rising speculation regarding a possible American withdrawal from North and East Syria, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have dismissed such claims, asserting they have received no indications of an imminent U.S. military exit from the region.
Farhad Shami, director of the SDF’s media center, told Reuters that no plans for withdrawal had been communicated to them. He cautioned that any reduction in Coalition presence could create opportunities for the Islamic State (ISIS) militants to regroup and restore their capabilities to levels witnessed in 2014.
Coalition Military Presence Reinforced
A US-led Global Coalition military delegation recently met with SDF commanders at a base in eastern Dayro Zcuro (Deir ez-Zor). The meeting was part of routine patrols originating from the al-Omar oil field, covering villages and towns such as Daranj, Granij, and Hajin.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported continued Coalition efforts to strengthen their presence in the region. A US cargo plane carrying advanced weaponry, a radar system, and infantry personnel recently arrived at the Khirab al-Jeer base in Rmelan, North and East Syria.
Large-Scale Military Reinforcements
Further military reinforcements were observed as a convoy of 50 trucks carrying armored vehicles, heavy artillery, ammunition, and logistical supplies entered Syria from Iraq via the Al-Waleed Border Crossing. The convoy was escorted by military helicopters for aerial protection.
Additionally, a 15-truck convoy transporting fuel tanks and sealed containers entered the Qasrak base in Hasakah. These developments underscore an ongoing US military build-up in the region, contrary to claims of an impending withdrawal.
