Syrian Democratic Council calls for inclusive dialogue amid political transition
HASAKAH, North and East Syria — The Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) convened a meeting with leaders and representatives of political parties in Hasakah, North and East Syria, to discuss the latest political developments in the country.
The meeting, chaired by SDC Co-Chair Layla Qaraman, addressed the challenges of Syria’s transitional phase. Qaraman emphasized the critical role of active political elites in navigating what she described as one of Syria’s most challenging political periods.
Qaraman shared insights from the SDC’s recent visits to Syrian governorates, particularly Suwayda, where meetings with local figures and dignitaries were described as constructive. She highlighted the importance of activating political engagement during this crucial time and underscored the value of the Syrian national dialogue in fostering an inclusive approach to the transitional process.
During the meeting, Qaraman stressed the necessity of Syrian unity and solidarity to shape the country’s future. She also emphasized enhancing civil peace as a foundation for building a stable and democratic Syria.
The attendees reaffirmed the importance of unity among all Syrians, advocating for dialogue as the cornerstone of achieving a shared understanding. They emphasized that Syria’s future is a collective concern and must not be dictated by any one group over another.
The participants called for greater engagement with all Syrian forces to develop a unified vision for the country’s future. This vision, they stressed, must guarantee the rights of all citizens and uphold the principles of freedom and democracy.
