US forces provide humanitarian aid to displaced families in North and East Syria

RAQQA, North and East Syria — For the second time since the fall of the authoritarian regime of Bashar al-Assad, US forces have delivered food and medical aid to forcibly displaced individuals from Cafrin (Afrin), Shahba, and Tel Rifaat. This initiative was carried out in coordination with the Health and Social Affairs Authorities of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East Syria (DAARNES), as well as social affairs authorities in Raqqa, Tabqa, and the Cafrin Council. Representatives from the Co-Chairship of the Executive Council in Raqqa were also present during the distribution.

Aid Continues Despite Policy Adjustments

Although the US administration has ceased broader aid programs through USAID, humanitarian assistance was directly provided by US forces. Sheikhmous Ahmed, Co-Chair of the Office of Displaced Persons, Refugees, and Disaster Victims under DAARNES’s Social Affairs and Labor Authority, noted that this is the second batch of aid delivered by US forces. The supplies were coordinated through the civil affairs team to support displaced individuals from Cafrin, Shahba, and Tel Rifaat.

Critical Supplies for Vulnerable Populations

The aid shipment included medical supplies, infant formula, cleaning products, and clothing. These essential items will be stored temporarily before being distributed to displaced individuals in shelters located across Raqqa and Tabqa.

This humanitarian effort reflects the US’s ongoing commitment to addressing the urgent needs of displaced communities in the region, despite shifting policy frameworks.
