Democratic Autonomous Administration of Region of North & East Syria: Women Authority receives British women delegation
ZALIN (Qamishli), Syria — A British women’s delegation from Ireland and Scotland visited the Women Authority of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of Region of North and East Syria (DAARNES) to gain insight on women’s role in the Region.
The delegation was received by Co-Chair of the DAARNES Women Authority Adalet Omar and Deputy Co-Chairs Niroz Muslim and Sawsan al-Khalaf. The two sides discussed the role of women in the DAARNES’ political system, social fabric, and organizational mechanisms. The challenges women face in the region and their role in the future of Syria were also among topics of discussion.
Omar spoke about the way the Authority has empowered women and their social development through their struggle to establish social justice. She also addressed the challenges and risks facing the region due to Turkish attacks which aim to undermine the DAARNES project, and the gains made by women in the Region. She highlighted the Women Authority role in organizing and empowering women on various levels.
The delegation, in turn, commended the DAARNES’ experience and role in showcasing women role.
Both sides emphasized the importance of developing joint relations and work to address women issues and protect their rights.
