SDF General Commander Mazloum Abdi urges Syrian Transitional Government to pressure Turkey-backed factions to stop attacks North and East Syria

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — General Commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Mazloum Abdi urged the Syrian Transitional Government (STG) to take decisive action in halting Turkish aggression in northern Syria.

Abdi made his remarks during the Syrian Forum for National Dialogue Towards a Pluralistic and Democratic Syria held in Raqqa by the Rojava Center for Studies. The forum brought together Syrian political figures from various regions.

“We remain committed to the necessity of continued negotiations with Damascus. Among our top priorities is stopping Turkish attacks,” Abdi stated. He emphasized that it is the responsibility of the Damascus administration to exert pressure on Turkish-backed armed groups to cease their assaults on North and East Syria.

In related developments, the SDF successfully intercepted and shot down four Turkish drones in retaliation for Turkish offensives. According to the SDF Media Center, these attacks targeted more than nine villages and a cement company in areas near Tishrin Dam, Qara Qozaq, Deir Hafer, and Ayn Issa.

The escalation highlights the ongoing tensions in the region, with calls for the STG to address the security threats posed by Turkish-backed groups and ensure the stability of the northern territories.
