Suwayda Military Council rejects authority of Syrian Transitional Government, warns against threats to civil peace
SUWAYDA, Syria — The Suwayda Military Council (SMC) issued a statement condemning the actions of groups that facilitated the imposition of the Damascus-based de facto authority in Suwayda without prior coordination with the SMC, the local community, or religious bodies.
The SMC reiterated its firm rejection of the de facto authority in Daramsuq (Damascus), emphasizing that it does not represent the aspirations of the Syrian people. The statement categorically rejected any attempt to impose this authority under any pretext.
“Anyone who dares to impose a de facto authority on the land and people of Suwayda will face severe consequences,” the SMC warned. “Such actions will pose a serious threat to civil peace.”
The MSC further affirmed its commitment to maintaining stability and peace in the region. It vowed to take decisive action against any activities that undermine security and civil harmony.
