Administration of North and East Syria calls for immediate de-escalation amid escalating violence in Syria’s coastal region

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — The Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East Syria (DAARNES) issued a call for an immediate halt to the escalating violence in Syria’s coastal region. The clashes, which erupted between local armed groups and security forces affiliated with the Syrian Transitional Government (STG), have raised alarm across the nation. Expressing deep concern amidst reports of intense fighting and extrajudicial killings, DAARNES urged all parties involved to exercise restraint and prioritize the safety of civilians.

Misreading of Syria’s Complex Reality

In a strongly worded statement, DAARNES attributed the current escalation to the STG’s failure to adequately assess the country’s volatile reality. It criticized the STG for neglecting Syria’s delicate social fabric and warned that ongoing military confrontations could push the nation closer to catastrophe, potentially resulting in further civilian massacres.

DAARNES urged all factions to act with wisdom and self-control, emphasizing that fighting among Syrian factions only deepens internal divisions. The statement highlighted that the ultimate cost of such confrontations will be borne by the Syrian people, while external powers stand to gain from the chaos.

Need for Genuine Political Solution

DAARNES reiterated that Syria’s only viable path forward lies in a comprehensive national dialogue — one that addresses longstanding tensions among the nation’s numerous political and military actors. It stressed the necessity of peaceful resolutions rather than reliance on violence to resolve disputes.

Renewing its plea for de-escalation, DAARNES cautioned Syrians against the dangers of internal conflict, warning that a full-scale civil war would only serve the enemies of Syria. The administration called on citizens to remain vigilant against any attempts to ignite unrest for ulterior motives.

The clashes in Syria’s coastal region have already resulted in significant casualties on both sides, including civilian deaths and injuries. As tensions continue to rise, the need for immediate de-escalation becomes increasingly urgent to prevent further deterioration of the situation.
