USUP President Ibrahim Mrad urges Lebanese President Aoun to confront Hezbollah and restore sovereignty

BEIRUT — In a decisive appeal, President of the Universal Syriac Union Party (USUP) Ibrahim Mrad urged Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, a Syriac Maronite, to take strong action against all illegal militias in the country, with particular emphasis on the Iran-backed Hezbollah.

Mrad issued his statement via Facebook, stressing that President Aoun must resist handing over any security or intelligence apparatus to Iranian influence until these militias are fully held accountable. He emphasized the importance of revoking all Baathist and authoritarian decrees that have enabled Iran-backed groups to intimidate Lebanese citizens and officials.
