Danish Parliament hosts meeting with DAARNES delegation to discuss Syrian developments
COPENHAGEN — In light of recent developments in Syria, especially in North and East Syria, the Danish Parliament hosted an important meeting between a delegation from the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East Syria (DAARNES) and the Danish Parliament’s Foreign Relations Committee.
The DAARNES delegation was represented by DAARNES Representative in Europe Abdul Karim Omar, along with Dara Mustafa and Alan Mansour, DAARNES representatives in Denmark. The Danish Parliament’s Foreign Relations Committee was represented by Gunvor Wibroe and an MP from the Social Democratic Party.
The discussions focused on the latest political and security developments in Syria, including the National Dialogue Conference, the Constitutional Declaration, and recent events in the Coastal Region. The meeting also examined the integration agreement between General Commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Mazloum Abdi and Head of the Syrian Transitional Government (STG) Ahmed al-Sharaa, addressing both the agreement’s positive aspects and its challenges.
The DAARNES delegation highlighted the ongoing Turkish attacks on the region, the issue of resettling displaced Cafrin (Afrin) residents to areas east of the Euphrates, and the rise of the Islamic State (ISIS) attacks in Syria. Joint operations between the US-led International Coalition and the SDF to combat ISIS were also discussed.
The delegation responded to questions from the Foreign Relations Committee, emphasizing the importance of Denmark and the EU’s role in supporting efforts for peace, stability, and ensuring the rights of all ethnic components of the Syrian population.
