Ibrahim Mrad meets Samir Gaegae and announces full alliance between his Universal Syriac Union Party and the Lebanese Forces in all municipal constituencies

MAA’RAB/BEIRUT — Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea and Ibrahim Mrad, president of the Universal Syriac Union Party (USUP), met at the Lebanese Forces headquarters in Maa’rab to discuss the latest political developments in Lebanon, including the upcoming municipal and mayoral elections.

The meeting, attended by Lebanese Forces Secretary-General Emile Mkarzel and Media and Communications Chief Charles Jabbour, covered pressing security issues, particularly the recent escalation in southern Lebanon and the Israeli airstrikes that targeted Beirut’s southern suburbs.

In the meeting, Mrad emphasized the urgent need for the Lebanese government to uphold international resolutions, restore full state authority, and avoid delays in addressing key security concerns. He pointed to the actions of Hezbollah and its allies, accusing them of undermining Lebanon’s sovereignty and dragging the country into further conflict.

“The Iranian-backed Hezbollah militia continues to challenge the existence of a functioning state, pushing Lebanon into an unwanted war,” Mrad said. “The government and the Lebanese Army must take full responsibility for safeguarding the nation. The Lebanese people can no longer endure further destruction and bloodshed.”

Strategic alliances for local elections

Mrad also highlighted the upcoming municipal and mayoral elections, announcing a full alliance between the USUP the Lebanese Forces, and other sovereign parties across all electoral districts.

“We are committed to contesting these elections with a clear vision for development and prosperity,” he said. “Our goal is to serve all Lebanese citizens, ensuring transparent governance and economic growth in the areas where our parties have a presence.”

As Lebanon grapples with deepening political and economic crises, the alliance between sovereign parties signals a concerted effort to challenge entrenched political forces and push for reform in local governance. However, with mounting instability and an increasingly fragile security situation, the road ahead remains uncertain.
