Christian Front: Hezbollah is a cancer that must be eradicated. The Front honors the martyrs of Zahle

ACHRAFIEH/BEIRUT, Lebanon – In a statement published today, the Christian Front in Lebanon took a cutting stance against Hezbollah, which many Western countries label as terrorist. The Christian Front calls the Hezbollah militia a malignant cancer that is eating away at the Lebanese people: “The Iranian-backed militia is trying to bring Lebanon and its people to total destruction and mass death by insisting on unity with its terrorist axis, which is led by the head of global terrorism, Iran.”

The Front called on the Lebanese government to finally make a real effort to implement international resolutions, to extend its sovereignty over all of its territory and to stop evading and delaying this process. Hezbollah and all armed Palestinian groups that revolve around it and rely on it, the Front argued, are trying daily to undermine Lebanese state institutions and drag the country into war, causing more and greater harm.

Therefore, the Front insists that; (1) the Lebanese army, with the support of international troops, must be deployed throughout all of Lebanon’s territory, especially in Hezbollah’s stronghold in the southern suburbs of Beirut (2) all illegal stockpiles of weapons must be seized, and (3) anyone who attacks another country from Lebanese territory must be arrested and held accountable.

If this does not happen, the international community, Arab countries, and institutions such as the IMF will not support Lebanon. The conditions for international financial support are very clear: all militias on Lebanese territory must be disarmed.

Martyr’s of Zahle

The Christian Front – on the occasion of the anniversary of the victory of the people of the city of Zahle over the army of the former Baath regime – honored and saluted in today’s statement, the souls of all the martyrs who then – and now – resisted terrorism. “They wrote epics of heroism and steadfastness in solidarity with and integration between the Christian resistance and the city’s people,” it stated.

The Front concluded its statement with “a call to Christian parties, organizations, and authorities to learn from the past and unite in defense of a free and effective Christian presence, in the face of the evil conspiracies that have been going on for decades.”
