USUP President Ibrahim Mrad calls for complete disarmament of Hezbollah and Palestinian factions

METN/TUR-LEVNON, Lebanon — In a video posted on X (formerly Twitter), President of the Universal Syriac Union Party (USUP) Ibrahim Mrad reaffirmed his party’s stance, urging the new Lebanese government to swiftly implement international resolutions and extend its authority across the entirety of Lebanese territory. His remarks were a clear reference to southern Lebanon, where Hezbollah remains active, as well as to Palestinian refugee camps and other areas beyond full state control.

Mrad accused Iran-backed Hezbollah and Palestinian militias of seeking to destabilize Lebanon and drag the country into further armed conflict and destruction. He called for the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) to be deployed nationwide and to seize all illegal weapons depots.

He also demanded strict accountability for anyone launching attacks from Lebanese soil or beyond, stressing that it is the responsibility of the government and army to fulfill their mandate in safeguarding the nation.

Mrad concluded with a stern warning, stating that the international community is closely monitoring Lebanon and will withhold financial aid unless all militias — especially Hezbollah — are disarmed, referring to the group as a terrorist organization.
