Second humanitarian aid convoy departs Beth Zalin, North and East Syria, for the Syrian coastal region
BETH ZALIN, North and East Syria — A second convoy of humanitarian aid carrying essential food and medical supplies for civilians in the Syrian coastal region from the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East Syria (DAARNES) departed Beth Zalin (Qamishli) on Friday. Organized with support from the Kurdish Red Crescent (KRC) and contributions from the residents of North and East Syria, the convoy includes nearly 14,000 food and hygiene kits, along with tons of flour, to be distributed to those affected by violence and human rights violations in the area.
The initiative follows the first aid convoy dispatched by the DAARNES on 17 March, which provided much-needed relief to civilians suffering from the devastating impact of recent hostilities. The KRC announced on Thursday that the second convoy would depart under its supervision and in coordination with local authorities. Officials confirmed plans to send an additional convoy on Saturday, carrying 13,500 aid kits, including 11,000 food parcels and 2,500 hygiene packages.
This humanitarian effort highlights the critical need for relief in the Syrian coastal region, where civilians have endured severe hardships due to escalating violence between armed groups and security forces affiliated with the Syrian Transitional Government (STG). The KRC described the initiative as a response to the urgent call for humanitarian assistance, aiming to provide essential resources and alleviate the suffering of affected communities.
