European delegation meets Syriac Union Party to address challenges facing Syriacs and Christian communities in Syria

BETH ZALIN, North and East Syria — A 14-member parliamentary delegation from the UK and other European nations visited the Syriac Union Party (SUP) headquarters in Syria to discuss the conditions of Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) and Christian communities in the region.

The delegation included UK Conservative Party MPs Matt Vickers and John Lamont, Lord David Watts, Member of European Parliament (MEP) from Estonia Jaak Madison (Estonian Center Party, EK), MEP from Germany Lukas Sieper (Party of Press, PdF), Member of the London Assembly Unmesh Desai (Labour), Chief of Staff to Mr. Vickers MP Niall Innes, and Assistant to MEP Madison Alari Soikmets.



Also in the delegation were APPG-Syria representative Chris Doyle, Office Manager to MP of the UK Andrew Snowden (Conservative) Jack Gebhard, and Assistants to MEP from Germany Martin Sonneborn (Die PARTEI, The PARTY) Dustin Hoffman and Chris Schiller.

Bethnahrin National Council Foreign Relations Officer Nazira Goreya and SUP Officials Robel Bahho and Gabriel Shamoun, welcomed the delegation.

Discussions focused on the humanitarian and security challenges in the Khabur villages, stability in the region, and conditions in the Wadi al-Nasara (Valley of Christians) area in the Homs countryside.

The delegation pledged support for the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) and Christian communities in Syria, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the country’s cultural and religious diversity while fostering peace and stability in areas gradually regaining security.
