Syriac Women’s Union in Tur Abdin hosts Easter celebration for children and families

MEDYAD, Turkey — The Syriac Women’s Union (Huyodo d’Neshe d’Bethnahrin, HNB) in Tur Abdin organized a vibrant Easter celebration for children in Medyad (Midyat) and its surrounding villages. The event, held at the Federation of Syriac Associations in Turkey (Süryani Dernekler Federasyonu, SÜDEF) headquarters, featured traditional activities such as preparing sweets and coloring Easter eggs.

Families from Medyad and neighboring areas, as well as participants from European countries, joined the festivities. This annual tradition brought together children, women, and men to honor the sacred spirit of Easter while preserving its unique customs.

The celebration showcased two beloved Easter traditions — making sweets and decorating eggs in vibrant colors — fostering a joyful atmosphere that resonated with participants of all ages.

The HNB expressed heartfelt gratitude to the children and their families for their enthusiastic involvement in this cherished event, which aimed to unite the community and uphold the legacy of Easter traditions.
