Patriotic Union of Kurdistan delegation meets with Beth Nahrain Patriotic Union in Iraq

ANKAWA, Kurdistan Region of Iraq — A delegation from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) visited the headquarters of the Beth Nahrain Patriotic Union (HBA) in Ankawa to discuss the importance of fair representation for all components in the Region’s parliament.

The delegation was welcomed by Joseph Sliwa, President of the HBA, along with members of the party’s executive office. During the meeting, both parties emphasized the need to maintain strong relations and respect the unique identities of all communities in the KRI, regardless of their population size. They highlighted the importance of qualitative representation over quantitative measures.

The PUK delegation expressed its support for drafting an election law in the KRI’s parliament that would ensure voting rights are exclusively reserved for the Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian people. This initiative aims to guarantee that genuine representatives of the community’s struggles and political aspirations are elected to parliament.

The meeting underscored the shared commitment of both parties to fostering inclusivity and addressing the challenges faced by smaller ethnic components in the KRI.
