Autonomous Administration congratulates Christians on Easter
ZALIN (QAMISHLI), North and East Syria — The Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East Syria (DAARNES) extended its warmest congratulations to all Syrian Christians celebrating Easter, according to both the Eastern and Western calendars.
In a statement released on Friday, the DAARNES expressed hope that the holiday would bring peace and prosperity to the people of North and East Syria and the world. The statement also wished that the resurrection of Jesus Christ would serve as a symbol of liberation from oppression and slavery, inspiring nations to strive for dignity, freedom, and peace, particularly in Syria.
To mark the occasion, the DAARNES announced that all institutions and offices under its jurisdiction would be closed on Sunday, except for those requiring continuous operations due to the nature of their work. The decision reflects the DAARNES’s recognition of Easter as a significant religious and cultural event for the Christian community in the region.
Christians in North and East Syria will celebrate Easter on Sunday, concluding Holy, or “Passion”, Week, which began last Sunday with Palm Sunday. The holiday remains a vital part of the region’s diverse cultural and religious heritage.
