Beth Nahrin National Council extends Easter greetings: “With the Will of National Unity, We Celebrate the Resurrection of Christ”

The Beth Nahrin National Council (Mawtbo Umthoyo D’Bethnahrin, MUB) issued a statement on the occasion of Easter, emphasizing the importance of fostering unity among the people and highlighting the unique opportunity presented by this year’s unified celebrations across Orthodox, Catholic, and Evangelical churches.

In its statement, titled “With the Will of National Unity, We Celebrate the Resurrection of Christ,” the MUB congratulated the global Christian community on this joyous occasion. It noted the exceptional symbolism of this year’s Easter, as Christians of all denominations celebrate on the same day, strengthening bonds of coexistence and illuminating the future of their people with a spirit of unity and goodwill.

The MUB underscored that the ongoing changes in the Middle East have provided the Syriac people with a valuable opportunity to assert their national identity and confront decades of denial policies. It called on political, religious, cultural, and social institutions to collaborate in addressing challenges and achieving the aspirations of their people for freedom, dignity, and political representation.

The statement also highlighted the progress made so far, describing it as a reflection of the genuine will of their people, instilling hope and confidence among all members of the community. It emphasized that every religious or national celebration, as well as every political and cultural struggle, now carries greater significance and deeper meaning.

The MUB pointed to the historical inspiration drawn from the Resurrection of Christ, which has enabled the people of Beth Nahrin to endure and persevere for over two millennia. It reaffirmed that religious, historical, and social values remain the cornerstone of their legitimate national struggle for rights and a free existence in their homeland.

The statement concluded by stressing the importance of continued collective efforts, particularly in Syria and other parts of the homeland. It noted that any unified steps along this path would garner international support and contribute to securing the political and national status the Syriac people deserve.

On this occasion, the MUB extended its heartfelt congratulations to the global Christian community, its people, religious leaders, the families of martyrs, and representatives of national institutions and organizations. It called for the continuation of the struggle for national unity and the attainment of rightful aspirations.
