Bethnahrin Patriotic Union visits Iraqi Communist party in Baghdad

BAGHDAD — Joseph Sliwa, President of the Bethnahrin Patriotic Union Party (Huyodo Bethnahrin Athroyo, HBA), accompanied by Political Bureau member Ma’rib Imad, visited the headquarters of the Iraqi Communist Party in Baghdad to discuss key political and social issues. 

The delegation was warmly received by Yasser al-Salem, Political Bureau member and Secretary of the National Relations Committee of the Iraqi Communist Party, along with fellow Political Bureau member Ali Saheb.  

The meeting centered on the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for November and the status of minority quotas in Iraq. Both parties emphasized the importance of uniting national and secular forces while advocating for the preservation of the quota system for the Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian community. They highlighted the unique cultural, historical, and linguistic heritage of this group and stressed the need for fair representation. 

Discussions also touched on the broader political and social landscape in Iraq and the region, particularly in light of the rapid changes unfolding in recent times. The meeting underscored the shared commitment of both parties to fostering inclusivity and addressing the challenges faced by minority groups.
