Two Yazidi men held by ISIS handed over to Yazidi House by Syrian Democratic Forces

SHIGUR \(SINJAR), Iraq — After locating them among militants of the Islamic State (ISIS), the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) transferred 2 Yazidi young men to the Yazidi House in North and East Syria, as a step toward reuniting them with their families in Shigur (Sinjar).

Sources within the SDF stated that the two men, Diyar Ali Rafo (22) and Othman Kheiro Khdeida (19), were abducted by ISIS during the 2014 attack on Shigur (Sinjar) district.

The sources added that ISIS militants took them and their families to various locations within the areas under their control between Iraq and Syria. Both youths were subjected to “religious training” and exploited during their childhood. The sources also noted that Rafo lost his leg and right eye after being forced into combat, while Khdeida lost his right hand.

Both had been in the Syrian desert since the liberation of Baghouz, ISIS’s last stronghold, by the SDF.
