ANKAWA, Iraq — President of the Bethnahrin Patriotic Union Party in Iraq (Huyodo Bethnahrin Athroyo, HBA) Joseph Sliwa this Thursday met with Syriac Member of Swedish Parliament Yusuf Aydin in Ankawa. Sliwa, himself a former lawmaker in Iraqi parliament, and Aydin addressed the general conditions of the Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian people in the country. Their particular emphasis was on current political and social challenges.
They stressed the importance of relying on factual realities rather than exaggerated media reports spread by certain authorities for their own interests.
During the talks, the HBA’s vision regarding the main demands of the Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian people was also highlighted, emphasizing the need for true self-determination. Bethnahrin Patriotic Union President Joseph Sliwa reaffirmed his stance against external political guardianship over the Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian people, regardless of the source or justification.
