BAGHDEDE (Qaraqosh), Iraq – In a series of bilateral visits between civil society and (local) government agencies for the development of the Hamdaniya District in the Nineveh Plain, a delegation from the Hamdaniye municipality visited the Beth Nahrain Women’s Union (BNOW) in Baghdede yesterday.
The municipality delegation was led by Hamdaniya Civil Service Director Jihan Munther Noah, HR Officer Georgette George Mikha, and Media Officer Alberta Fadi. The delegation was received from BNOW side by President Hanan Matti Touma, official Ronak Elias Hanna and representative Iqbal Al-Toun.
The informative visit was intended to share information, gather ideas, and make plans together. The visiting municipal delegation presented its ongoing policy plans, and the status of key municipal and government services regarding the reconstruction of the Hamdaniya District, which includes the city of Baghdede, Karamlesh, and Bartella. Facilities in the Hamdaniya District have been brought to a reasonable level since its liberation from the Islamic State in 2017. Much reconstruction work has been done but there is still much to be done.
The Beth Nahrain Organization for Women presented its most prominent projects, its role in the reconstruction of homes and shops, and in providing job opportunities for youth and women through training courses. BNOW does most of its work in cooperation with local and international organizations.
