Beth Nahrain Patriotic Union urges biometric voter registration to protect electoral rights

ARBA’ILO, Kurdistan Region of Iraq — The Beth Nahrain Patriotic Union (Huyodo Bethnahrin Athroyo, HBA) issued an urgent appeal to members of the Chaldea–Syriac–Assyrian community to secure their biometric voter registration cards by 24 May to safeguard their electoral rights.

The HBA specifically called on its members, supporters, and the broader Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian community, as well as other communities across Iraq, to take immediate action.

“Citizens must visit the offices of the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) to complete biometric registration updates and obtain their voter identification cards,” the HBA urged in its statement.

Highlighting the critical deadline, the HBA stressed that all eligible voters must finalize the process by 24 May to prevent electoral fraud, ensure accurate voter rolls, and strengthen the political influence of minorities.

The party emphasized that obtaining biometric voter cards is essential for protecting voting rights, ensuring fair political representation, and fostering democratic participation in Iraq’s electoral process.
