Bethnahrin Women’s Union hosts seminar on social organization and individual roles in Göppingen, Germany
GÖPPINGEN, Germany — The Bethnahrin Women’s Union (Huyodo d’Neshe d’Bethnahrin, HNB) hosted a seminar this Saturday at the town hall in Göppingen, a city in southern Germany. The seminar focused on the theme Contemporary Social Organization and the Role of the Individual.
The event began with introductory remarks by HNB President Enheduanna Rohyo Özgun and Bercin Üstün, representing HNB’s Germany Branch.
In her opening presentation, Özgun outlined the mission and vision of the HNB, emphasizing its commitment to empowering Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) women and strengthening their role in society.
Üstün’s talk delved into the interplay between social systems and individual identities. She highlighted the influence of societal structures on personal development and discussed the challenges posed by the increasing individualism in Western society. Humans are inherently social beings, said Üstün, and maintaining social cohesion is vital for a balanced life. She concluded by asserting that activism is essential to fostering community bonds in individualistic societies.
Following the presentations, participants formed discussion groups to explore various related topics in greater depth, facilitating an engaging and collaborative exchange of ideas.
The seminar reflected HNB’s dedication to addressing contemporary social challenges and fostering dialogue on the importance of community and individual contributions.
