Mashtanur Hospital in Kobane, North and East Syria, expands services with new dialysis and leishmaniasis units
KOBANE, North and East Syria — The Euphrates Canton Health Authority of the Democratic Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria (DAARNES) inaugurated two new departments at Mashtanur Hospital in Kobane.
The local community and families of martyrs attended the opening ceremony for the new units: a leishmaniasis testing unit and a dialysis unit.
Mashtanur Hospital already provides a range of services, including gynecology, internal medicine, pediatrics, diabetes care and glucose testing, neurology, psychological support, and pharmacy services.
The hospital had been completely destroyed on 25 December 2023 during an attack by Turkish forces and their Syrian National Army (SNA) proxies. In response, the Euphrates Canton Health Authority relocated the facility to ensure the continuation of essential healthcare services for the community.
The new departments represent a significant step in restoring and expanding healthcare access in the region, addressing critical medical needs in Kobane and surrounding areas.
