European Syriac Union holds high-level talks in Berlin to address future of Syriac people in Beth Nahrin
BERLIN — A European Syriac Union (ESU) delegation led by Co-Chair Fehmi Vergili, conducted a series of high-level meetings in Berlin on 13–14 May aimed at addressing the challenges facing the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people in Syria and the Middle East.
The meetings, which brought together representatives from Germany’s Christian Democratic Union (CDU), humanitarian organizations, consulates, and media groups, focused on charting a sustainable future for the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) community amid ongoing instability in the region.
During the discussions, Vergili underscored the dire challenges faced by the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people, including displacement, cultural preservation, and threats to their security. He proposed a series of solutions aimed at fostering stability, cultural resilience, and human rights protections, while calling for enhanced international solidarity.
The ESU has consistently advocated for the rights and freedoms of Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people, working to draw global attention to their struggle.
