USUP President Ibrahim Mrad congratulates Lebanese Forces on Zahle municipal victory

Zahle, Lebanon — Ibrahim Mrad, President of the Universal Syriac Union Party (USUP), extended his congratulations to Dr. Samir Geagea, leader of the Lebanese Forces party, following the victory of the Heart of Zahle electoral list in the recent municipal elections. Mrad also lauded the Syriac community, describing it as the “spearhead in defending Zahle and the free Christian society.”

The Heart of Zahle list, led by Salim Ghazaleh and supported by both the Lebanese Forces and the USUP, achieved a decisive win. In a statement following the results, Mrad commended Geagea and his party, stating, “You have once again proven yourselves to be the conscience and voice of the Christian community.”

Mrad highlighted the USUP’s unwavering support for the Heart of Zahle list throughout the campaign. “We stood with Zahle’s resilient families in an election that reflected the people’s deep trust in the Lebanese Forces and their sovereign and reformist path,” he remarked. “Time and again, the Lebanese Forces have demonstrated they are the undisputed voice of Lebanon’s Christian community.”

Expressing gratitude to his party members, particularly the Secretary General and the Zahle coordination office leadership, Mrad emphasized their close collaboration with Lebanese Forces members in securing a victory that upheld Zahle’s identity. “This was a decisive vote,” he noted, “one that preserved Zahle’s unique character and resisted all attempts to distort its historical and social fabric.”

Mrad reserved special thanks for the Syriac community in Zahle, acknowledging the 2,530 votes cast by Syriac voters for the winning list. “Their unwavering commitment and pride are evident,” he said. “The Syriac people remain at the forefront of defending Zahle and the dynamic, free Christian society it represents — alongside all residents committed to resisting corruption and fostering the city’s growth.”

Reaffirming the USUP’s alliance with the Lebanese Forces, Mrad urged political stakeholders to recognize the growing influence of his party. “After the elections in Metn, Beirut, and now Zahle, it is time to acknowledge the political and popular weight of the Syriac Union Party,” he declared. “Its exclusion from the national political scene is no longer acceptable.”
