Ankawa Christmas Festival Committee extend educational support to local schools
ANKAWA, Kurdistan Region of Iraq — The Ankawa Christmas Festival organizing committee has continued its initiative of providing financial grants to public schools in the Ankawa, Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI). This effort aims to support students from local Christian communities in their educational journeys, from primary school to university.
As part of its fourth edition, the festival delivered a new round of funding on Wednesday to several public schools in Ankawa. The grants are intended to alleviate material challenges faced by students and school administrations, ensuring a stable and consistent educational process.
Recent assistance included funding for the purchase of photocopying equipment, enabling school staff to better serve students and manage daily operations more effectively.
The grant distribution ceremony was hosted by Kaldo Ramzi Oghanna, the Director General of Syriac Culture and Arts, who welcomed school principals and educators at the Directorate’s headquarters in Ankawa.
Earlier this month, the festival committee also provided financial support to other schools in the district, underscoring the sustained nature of this initiative.
The fourth edition of the Ankawa Christmas Festival officially concluded on 4 January 2025. Organized by the Ankawa Festival platform under the patronage of the General Directorate of Syriac Culture and Arts, in collaboration with the Academic Social Center and the Ankawa Youth Social Club, the festival has become a significant platform for cultural celebration and community development. Its dual focus on heritage and education highlights its broader mission to strengthen Ankawa’s social fabric.
