Syrian Democratic Forces repel Islamic State attacks in eastern countryside of Dayro Zcuro (Deir ez-Zor)

DAYRO ZCURO, North and East Syria — The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) repelled an attack of the Islamic State (ISIS) on one of their military checkpoints in the town of Al-Bahra in the eastern countryside of Dayro Zcuro (Deir ez-Zor), the SDF Media Center reported.

The SDF statement noted that an ISIS cell used a vehicle to open fire on their checkpoint, but SDF fighters’ readiness repelled the attack. The SDF returned fire, leading to a direct clash that left several militants injured and forced the attackers’ vehicle to flee. Two SDF members sustained minor injuries.

Following the attack, the SDF launched a large-scale sweep operation to track down the attackers and pursue remnants of the ISIS group. The SDF reaffirmed its commitment to continuing the pursuit of ISIS remnants, dismantling their capabilities and preventing them from regrouping.

In a related incident, a military source reported that unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire with an automatic weapon on an SDF military vehicle traveling along the main road in the town of Daman, north of Dayro Zcuro. The attack caused material damage but no casualties.
