First Round of DAARNES–STG Talks Held in Constructive and Cooperative Atmosphere
DARAMSUQ — Officials from the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAARNES), including co-chair of the Syriac Union Party Sanharib Barsom, met with representatives of the Syrian Transitional Government (STG) on Sunday in Daramsuq (Damascus), marking the first formal round of negotiations between the two sides.
The meeting, held “in a constructive and cooperative atmosphere”, focused on implementing the March 10 agreement signed between Transitional President Ahmad al-Sharaa and Mazloum Abdi Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). Both delegations agreed to form joint subcommittees to address administrative, security, and service-related matters, with the goal of gradually aligning institutions between DAARNES and Daramsuq (Damascus).
One of the priorities discussed was the education file, particularly solutions for administering national exams for students in DAARNES areas. Other key topics included facilitating the return of displaced persons to their homes, the situation in Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud in Holeb (Aleppo), and broader security coordination.
