Human Rights Watch criticizes Syrian government for integrating terrorist factions into army

KOBANI, Syria — A recent report by Human Rights Watch (HRW) sharply criticized the Syrian government for incorporating several terrorist factions into the Syrian army, including 3,500 Chinese Uyghur fighters. The report follows documentation of a Turkish airstrike, carried out alongside its allied terrorist groups, on a village near Kobani city, Syria. The strike killed ten members of a single family, including seven children.

HRW’s report highlights serious concerns about ongoing violations against civilians in Syria, especially amid the Syrian government’s merging of terrorist groups aligned with the Turkish occupation—groups with notorious records of human rights abuses.

HRW also pointed out that continued Turkish support for these factions is fueling escalating hostilities that continue to claim civilian lives.

Adam Coogle, Deputy Director for the Middle East and North Africa at Human Rights Watch, said the scale of civilian casualties suggests the attackers made no effort to minimize harm. He added that those responsible for the strike showed no regard for avoiding civilian deaths.

In conclusion, the report calls on the Turkish government to cease its support for terrorist groups and holds it fully accountable for the massacre. It also urges compensation for victims and the initiation of transparent investigations into the incident.
