Samir Geagea condems Israili bombardments, and weapons in Hezbollah’s hands

MAARAB, LEBANON — Dr. Samir Geagea, head of the Lebanese Forces party, sharply criticized recent Israeli military strikes targeting Beirut, calling Israel a “tyrant state” and urging a firm response to prevent further attacks on Lebanon. His remarks implicitly targeted Hezbollah’s Iranian-backed militia presence in the country.

Speaking at the annual dinner of Al-Maseera magazine, held at the party’s headquarters in Maarab, Geagea stressed that both regional and international equations are clear. He emphasized the need for actors willing to uphold these realities in order to resolve Lebanon’s ongoing crises.

“When asked about practical solutions, the usual answer is that the international community must take responsibility,” Geagea said, expressing skepticism about how the international community can truly prioritize the interests of the Lebanese people.

He called for serious action, underscoring Lebanon’s unique opportunity for change that might not last for more than two months. Geagea pointed to Lebanon’s major allies worldwide — from Gulf states to the United States — highlighting their capacity to help Lebanon stop Israeli aggression and remove Israeli forces from Lebanese territory, but only if Lebanon becomes a fully functioning state.

Geagea insisted that no Lebanese citizen should live under the threat of Israeli bombardment, occupation, or instability. “The time has come,” he said, “for the country to stabilize and to regain its freedom and sovereignty in a proper way.”
