Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria reports escalation in ISIS attacks on checkpoints in eastern Syria
DAYRO ZCURO, Syria — The Internal Security Forces (ISF) of North and East Syria issued a statement regarding recent attacks by Islamic State (ISIS) sleeper cells targeting ISF checkpoints in the Dayro Zcuro (Deir ez-Zor) countryside in eastern Syria.
According to the statement, ISIS sleeper cells launched an assault on the Al-Hareiji checkpoint, as well as a nearby post belonging to the Dayro Zcuro Military Council. The attack caused material damage but resulted in no casualties. In response, the ISF swiftly deployed patrols and initiated sweeping operations in the vicinity of the attack.
The ISF also highlighted a separate attack that occurred on Sunday in the Al-Sabha area of the Dayro Zcuro countryside, pointing to an increase in ISIS activity in the region over the past few days.
Reaffirming their commitment to maintaining security and stability, the ISF emphasized their determination to continue security operations aimed at dismantling ISIS sleeper cells and preventing the group’s resurgence in North and East Syria.
