Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf: It’s time to build a state in Lebanon
BEIRUT — Speaking at the Lebanon Reconstruction Conference, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam declared that the time has come to establish a genuine and sovereign state in Lebanon. He emphasized the urgent need to restore security, stability, and public trust in the country’s institutions.
Salam announced that authorities have successfully dismantled over 500 weapon storage sites in southern Lebanon and enhanced security measures at Beirut Airport. He also highlighted ongoing diplomatic initiatives aimed at halting Israeli attacks on Lebanese territory.
Acknowledging Lebanon’s financial collapse, Salam attributed the crisis to years of poor governance and a lack of accountability. He stressed the importance of restoring national sovereignty as a prerequisite for rebuilding international trust and attracting foreign investment.
The Prime Minister pointed to the devastating impact of Israeli attacks on Lebanon’s infrastructure and citizens’ lives. However, he commended the resilience of the Lebanese people and businesses, who continue to endure and adapt despite the ongoing challenges.
Salam called for collective efforts to address the country’s deep-seated issues, promising that his government remains committed to rebuilding Lebanon’s future on a foundation of sovereignty, security, and accountability.
