Assyrian Church of the East ordains Father Yaqo Avdichev in Moscow
MOSCOW — Catholicos-Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East Mar Awa III Royel officiated the ordination of Father Yaqo (Artur) Avdichev at the Virgin Mary Church in Moscow.
The ceremony was conducted with the assistance of Metropolitan of Syria Mar Aphrem Athniel, Archbishop of Iran, Armenia, and Georgia Mar Narsai Benjamin, and Patriarchal Vicar for Russia and Priest of the Virgin Mary Church Archdeacon Samano Odisho.
Distinguished attendees included Archbishop Clement of the Moscow Patriarchate Hieromonk Stefan from the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department of External Church Relations, Chargé d’Affaires of the Iraqi Embassy in Moscow Khalil Abdulrida, Acting Representative of the Kurdistan Regional Government in Russia Danar Abu Bakr, and a representative from the Palestinian Embassy. A large gathering of Assyrian faithful from the local community also participated in the event.
Father Yaqo Avdichev, born in Gardabani, Georgia, in 1991, is married and currently pursuing a PhD in theology at the Moscow Theological Academy. He will serve as an assistant priest at the Virgin Mary Church in Moscow.
