Syrian Democratic Forces and US-led International Coalition intensify operations against ISIS in Syria

DAYRO ZCURO, Syria — The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), supported by the U.S.-led International Coalition, arrested a suspected Islamic State (ISIS) operative during a targeted operation in the Al-Shabakah neighborhood of Al-Shehil town, located in the eastern Dayro Zcuro (Deir ez-Zor) countryside.

According to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), the suspect was detained upon their arrival in the area.

This arrest follows a series of security operations in the region. On 5 June, the SDF and Coalition forces conducted a similar operation in Al-Hariri village in southern Hasakah countryside, leading to another apprehension.

On 10 June, CENTCOM carried out a precision airstrike in northwestern Syria, eliminating ISIS official Rahim Buaif. Buaif was reportedly involved in planning external operations that posed threats to civilians and US citizens.

The series of operations underscores the commitment of CENTCOM and the SDF to disrupt ISIS activities and neutralize threats against US forces, allies, and regional stability.
