Beth Nahrin National Council marks 25 years, calls for unity in national strategy

BETH NAHRIN — The Bethnahrin National Council (Mawtbo Umthoyo d’Bethnahrin, MUB) has commemorated its 25th anniversary with a stirring call for solidarity among Syriac institutions, urging churches, cultural organizations, and youth groups to unite under a shared strategy for national unity.

Operating under the motto We Will Triumph Through Our Strategy for National Unity, the MUB emphasized that coordinated efforts across the Middle East and the diaspora are essential to securing the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) community’s rightful role in regional affairs.

Since its founding, the MUB has worked to document the history of Beth Nahrin (Mesopotamia), counter ideologies of denial, and advocate for the rights of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people. “The ideas of freedom that emerged 37 years ago have crystallized into a cohesive will for national resistance,” the statement read. “We have stood against every policy of extermination, injustice, and erasure.”

The Council highlighted its enduring commitment to bridging divides between different segments of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) community, from clergy to laypeople, youth to elders, and urban to rural populations. “We have endured immense sacrifices to resist repression and massacres, raising the banner of revolution in the hope of resurrection,” the communiqué stated.

Through advocacy, annual memorials, and grassroots mobilization, the MUB has sought to amplify the voices of Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) communities fragmented by borders and political neglect. The presidency noted the emergence of “an organized will for resistance” that has championed the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) cause across political and diplomatic arenas.

As it adapts to shifting political landscapes, the MUB unveiled its 2025 Strategy for National Unity, reaffirming its commitment to advancing the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) cause.

The communiqué concluded with a tribute to the council’s legacy: “On this silver jubilee, we honor our righteous martyrs and urge all components of our nation to rally beneath the flag of our struggle until our collective objectives are achieved.”
