Syriac delegation meets with Syrian government Political Affairs Director for Hasakah
DARAMSUQ — A delegation representing the Syriac (Aramean–Aramean–Chaldean) community met with Abbas Hussein, Syrian government Director of Political Affairs for Hasakah in Daramsuq (Damascus).
The delegation was led by Silva al-Asia and included representatives from Churches and political parties representing the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) community.
During discussions, Hussein addressed the delegation’s concerns regarding various challenges, particularly those affecting their national rights. Key issues raised included recognition of their language rights, representation in the constitutional committee, parliamentary representation, essential service problems, especially water shortages, as well as ongoing issues at the Alouk Water Station.
After listening to the delegation’s requests, Hussein commended the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) community’s significant contributions to the nation, particularly looking ahead to the coming period.
He demonstrated willingness to address their concerns and work toward solutions.
