Italian Opera in Australia selects countertenor Robert Shlemon Adam for prestigeous City Recital Hall concert

SYDNEY — The Italian Opera Foundation in Australia has chosen the Syriac (Aramean-Chaldean-Assyrian) singer Robert Shlemon Adam, a talented countertenor, as one of eight distinguished classical singers from across the country, to perform in a special concert in Sydney. Adam is set to perform at Sydney’s City Recital Hall on 29 June in an exclusive concert.

In an interview with SBS Assyrian, Adam expressed his joy and gratitude for being part of this significant event, describing it as a major step forward in his classical music career. He was chosen from hundreds of auditionees.

A countertenor is a rare male vocal range that extends higher than the typical tenor, often reaching soprano or alto pitches through a specialized technique. This voice type is commonly featured in choral music and opera, performing roles originally written for castrati or high male voices in classical compositions.
