Christian Front and Syriac organizations in Syria call Mar Elias suicide bombing a targeted act to expel Christians 

LEBANON / SYRIA — The Christian Front in Lebanon strongly condemned in the strongest words the terrorist crime against the Mar Elias Church in the Douileh neighborhood of Daramsuq (Damascus). The Front considers Sunday’s heinous act part of a larger terrorist scheme aimed at instilling fear by terrorizing Christians and a deliberate undermining of diversity and coexistence. The ultimate goal is the expulsion of Christians from their historical lands. .  

In its statement, the Christian Front emphasized that ‘Takfiri’ terrorist ideology, in all its forms, is a clear and present danger to peace and stability and must be addressed immediately and seriously to prevent the recurrence of terrorist attacks in Syria and other countries of Beth Nahrin.

In North and East Syria, the Syriac Progressive Youth organization and the Syrian Democratic Youth Council of Hasakah organized a memorial service for the martyrs of the terrorist bombing, expressing their deep sorrow and outrage over the heinous act against their fellow Christians. 

The Syriac-Assyrian Martyrs’ Families Foundation in North and East Syria condemned the cowardly attack, considering it a blatant violation of all human and spiritual values. It called on the authorities to swiftly investigate and bring to justice those involved.

The Syriac Cultural Association also expressed condemnation and denounced the suicide bombing as a criminal act deliberately targeting Syria’s social fabric. It expressed its solidarity with the families of the victims and called for a full and transparent investigation.
