Saraya Ansar al-Sunna claims responsibility for Mar Elias Church suicide bombing
DARAMSUQ — Following the suicide attack of the Mar Elias Church in the Douileh neighborhood of Daramsuq (Damascus), terrorist organization Saraya Ansar al-Sunna has claimed responsibility for the attack, which killed 28 civilians and injured 63 others, according to the latest Syrian Health Ministry count.
In a statement published via its online accounts, the terrorist organization said it was behind the attack on the Mar Elias Church, vowing to launch more attacks.
Saraya Ansar al-Sunna (Supporters of the Sunnah Battalions) announced its existence last January, claiming to have carried out several killings and assassinations in Syria, including the massacre in the village of Arza, near Hemto (Hama), which claimed the lives of more than ten people from the village. It also targeted Alawites in Hmoth (Homs), the Syrian coast, and the Hemto countryside and has issued several threats against the Druze community.
The Saraya Ansar al-Sunna claim comes after Syrian services authorities reported the arrests and death of those responsible for the Mar Elias attack.
