Levantine National Council visits Armenian Catholic Archdiocese, offers condolences after Saint Elijah Church terrorist attack

DARAMSUQ — In a gesture of unity and spiritual solidarity, a delegation from the Levantine National Council (LNC), visited the Armenian Catholic Archdiocese in Daramsuq (Damascus) on Friday, where they met with Archbishop Georges Assadourian and Monsignor Georges Bahi. 

The meeting included discussions on the current state of affairs in Syria and the pressing challenges facing the country’s diverse communities—particularly in the wake of the devastating terrorist attack that struck the Saint Elijah Church in the Douileh neighborhood earlier this week. 

The LNC extended heartfelt condolences to the Armenian Catholic Church leadership and to the Syrian people, honoring the memory of the martyrs who lost their lives in the attack. The delegation underscored the urgent need to build national unity in the face of terrorism and extremism. 

LNC members reaffirmed their steadfast commitment to working side-by-side with religious and social institutions to protect Syria’s pluralistic identity, support the Christian presence in the country, and promote a shared set of values rooted in dignity, peace, and resilience. 

This visit is part of a broader initiative by the LNC to strengthen dialogue and cooperation with spiritual leaders across the nation, highlighting the LNC’s mission to serve as a unifying force for communal stability and national reconciliation in Syria.
