Vienna to Host 21st Anniversary Celebration of Suroyo TV’s Founding
VIENNA — The vibrant pulse of Syriac heritage will echo in the heart of Europe this weekend as Suroyo TV prepares to mark its 21st anniversary with a celebratory evening in Vienna, bringing together members of the Syriac diaspora in Austria for the very first time. The event is set to take place on Saturday, June 28, in the Saint Ephrem Church Hall, and will be broadcast live via satellite.
Suroyo TV, a prominent voice for the Syriac people, commemorated its 20th anniversary last year with two major events: one held in Medyad (Midyat), Tur Abdin, on September 15, and a second in Giessen, Germany, on November 5. This year’s singe event in Vienna is expected to serve not only as a celebration but also as a cultural and communal gathering point for Syriacs across Europe.
The anniversary is more than a festivity—it is a tribute to over two decades of dedicated broadcasting that has preserved identity, amplified justice-driven causes, and connected a dispersed people. Through diverse programming, Suroyo TV has functioned as both mirror and megaphone for the Syriac community, offering cultural preservation and political awareness alike.
According to the event’s organizing committee, all technical and logistical preparations are complete. The evening program will commence at 8:30 PM, featuring a live artistic and entertainment program with performances by noted musicians Sargon Sharro, Paul Ayar, and André Sukkar.
The evening will also include speeches by notable guests, entertainment segments, and a lottery. The event is expected to draw dozens of attendees from across Austria and neighboring countries, offering a rare moment of community gathering in celebration of a shared cultural beacon.
