IRAQ: Beth Nahrain Organization for Women organizes camps in Baghdede and Bartella to promote political engagement and leadership

BAGHDEDE and BARTELLA, Iraq — The Beth Nahrain Organization for Women (BNOW) recently organized two five-day women’s camps in the Nineveh Plains towns of Baghdede (Qaraqosh / Hamdaniya) and Bartella, aiming raise political awareness among Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian women and strengthen their cultural and organizational roles.

The first camp commenced in Bartella on 25 June, bringing together participants from Bartella, Karamlesh, and Baghdede. The program included lectures on the history of the Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian people, the historical role of women, organizational development, personality building, and the mission of the Bethnahrin National Council (Mawtbo Umthoyo d’Bethnahrin, MUB). Cadres from Syria and Europe, as well as the head of the BNOW in Europe, contributed to the sessions.

The second camp, held in Baghdede from 28 June to 2 July, welcomed 60 women of various ages. It offered similar educational and organizational seminars, fostering significant engagement from the participants.

Both camps concluded with a celebratory closing ceremony in Bartella, recognizing the successful completion of the activities. The ceremony was attended by several female figures and participating cadres, highlighting the growing role of women in advancing cultural and organizational efforts within their communities.
