Trump: Iran has not agreed to nuclear inspections or to halt uranium enrichment
WASHINGTON, D.C. / TEHRAN — U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Iran has not agreed to inspections of its nuclear program or to halt uranium enrichment, though he believes the program has been permanently halted. He suggested that Iran’s nuclear program may not have stopped indefinitely, and it could restart operations elsewhere.
Trump also mentioned plans to discuss the Iranian issue with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his White House visit on Monday.
Meanwhile, Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi urged talks with Iran and monitoring and verification activities to resume as soon as possible.
IAEA announced via X that its inspection team had safely left Iran for Vienna after Iran officially suspended cooperation with the agency. Grossi called for urgent negotiations to restore monitoring and verification efforts.
Iran formally suspended cooperation with the IAEA on Wednesday after President Masoud Pezeshkian signed a law, approved by parliament, requiring future nuclear facility inspections to be authorized by Iran Supreme National Security Council.
