Solidarity vigil held in Bremen to honor martyrs of St. Elias Church terrorist suicide bombing

BREMEN, Germany — In a powerful display of unity, the Christian community in the German state of Bremen organized a solidarity vigil in the city’s central square to commemorate the martyrs of the terrorist bombing that targeted the St. Elias Greek (Rüm) Orthodox Church in the Douileh neighborhood of Daramsuq (Damascus), Syria.

The event was attended by members of the Beth Nahrin Women’s Union and representatives from the European Syriac Union (ESU). Protesters held signs in Syriac, Arabic, and German condemning the attack and calling for peace, security, and unity among all components of Syrian society.\

The vigil featured multi-lingual prayers, hymns, and candle lighting. Photos of the martyrs, who lost their lives in the bombing, were raised alongside banners declaring them martyrs of the nation.

Participants chanted messages demanding peace for Syria, denouncing terrorism, and calling for protection of Christians and all civilians across the country.
