Syriac Women’s Conference takes place simultaneously this Saturday in Europe, Iraq and Syria
GERMANY/SYRIA/BETH NAHRIN — Christian Syriac women from 3 different parts of the world will unite in a historic conference on Saturday morning, July 12. The conference, organized by the Beth Nahrin Women’s Union (Huyodo d’Neshe d’Bethnahrin, HNB), will take place simultaneously in Germany, Syria and Iraq, respectively in Bürgerhaus in Stadt Pohlheim, Zohrabian Restaurant in Zalin (Qamishli) and Majdal Square in Ankawa.
The HNB organizing committee stresses that the Women’s conference is a symbol of resistance and perseverance, sending a clear message about women’s enduring value in society and history. The conference, with an open invitation to all Syriac women, carries a powerful slogan; “The time has come for Syriac women to reclaim their historic role. Our strength lies in the legacy of Shamiram, Zenobia, and Ishtar. Today, we continue their path with determination to overcome all challenges.”
The aim of the historic event is to create solidarity and unite Syriac (Aramean-Chaldean-Assyrian) women from the homeland and diaspora, to empower the Syriac woman in society, address her challenges, as well as highlight her crucial role in preserving identity and shaping society. Concrete objectives include amplifying the voice of Syriac women in international and Middle Eastern forums and creating collective decision processes that reflect their realities, aspirations and future.
