Two Christian girls missing, their whereabouts still unknown
DARAMSUQ (DAMASCUS) — The case of two missing Christian girls in the Syrian capital, Daramsuq (Damascus), continues to raise concern and uncertainty, with no new information available about their fate, months after their disappearance.
Caroliss Atallah Nahleh, a young girl from the town of al-Qurayya residing in Jaramana, a suburb of Daramsuq (Damascus), was studying French at Faculty of Arts of Damascus University. She left her home on the morning of February 2nd to take a university exam, but never arrived, and has been missing since that day. Some unconfirmed reports suggest that she may be held in the town of Harem in Idlib countryside, but there is no official evidence to support this claim.
The second young girl, Katia Jihad Qaraqot, from the village of Hineh, disappeared on the morning of April 4th in the Jdeidet Artouz area. She was a third-year university student. Some circulated unverified stories claimed she may have run away or gotten married, but none of these reports have been substantiated, and her condition or whereabouts remain unknown.
To this day, no official information or developments have been released about the fate of the two young women, amid a growing number of reports about abduction cases in the country.
