SDF and SDC condemn escalating violence in Suwayda, urge Syrian government to cease incitement

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — Amid ongoing clashes, kidnappings, and escalating violence between armed local groups and tribal factions in Suwayda in southern Syria, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) issued a statement today condemning the unrest.

In the statement, published on their official website, the SDF said, “We strongly condemn the continued attacks and assaults targeting villages and towns in Suwayda, which have claimed numerous lives and resulted in the burning and looting of dozens of civilian homes and farms.”

The SDF expressed deep concern over the repeated violence against the people of Suwayda and the daily harassment they continue to endure, calling these acts a significant blow to the hopes and aspirations of all Syrians.

The statement urged an immediate end to the violence, called for measures to prevent further attacks, and emphasized the need for full support of national initiatives aimed at resolving disputes in a manner that reflects the will of all Syrian communities.

The Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) also issued a strong condemnation, accusing Syrian government forces of direct involvement in the unrest and inciting violence in the region.

The SDC described the government’s interference as “a dangerous act that contradicts the expected role of any responsible government.”

The Council stressed that, after years of civil war and national fragmentation, peace and unity are more vital than ever. It called on the Syrian government to refrain from interfering in local conflicts, avoid fueling further chaos, and cease the use of sectarian rhetoric and hate speech.
